Conferences on Autism, PDD and Asperger's Syndrome

A calendar of conferences and workshops on autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) and Asperger's Syndrome, in the U.S. and Canada. We do not evaluate the quality or value of any conference. If the cost is shown as a range, that means that discounts are available for students, parents, early-birds, groups and/or partial attendance in multi-day events. We publish this calendar as a public service only.

November 5-6, 2009
Autism experts Michelle Garcia Winner and Carol Gray will present "Compelling and Insightful Strategies for Teaching and Living with Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger Syndrome, High-Functioning Autism, ADHD and Similar Social-Cognitive Challenges" in Grapevine, Texas, near Dallas. Ms. Winner’s creation of the social thinking curriculum for people with high-functioning autism earned her a 2008 Congressional award. Carol Gray’s Social Stories™ and Comic Strip Conversations are widely used with children, teens and adults with autism spectrum disorders. The Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders 13th Annual International Conference, "Autism Spectrum Disorders: What works and Why?," will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, Maryland (near Washington, DC). Wrightslaw Special Education Law and Advocacy Conference, sponsored by the Elija Foundation, will be held in Plainview, New York at Marriott Residence Inn. Speaker: attorney Peter Wright and Pamela Wright. Topics include special education law, rights and responsibilities, tests and measurements to measure progress and regression, smart IEPs, and tactics and strategies for effective advocacy for students with disabilities. The Autism Asperger Publishing Company and Springfield Technical Community College will sponsor "Developing Talents: Career Planning, Including Higher Education, for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder," in Springfield, Massachusetts. Temple Grandin Ph.D., a scientist with autism, "will share her personal story of how she developed her own abilities for the workplace. She will also outline key components for educators and parents to use in helping to develop the special talents of individuals with HFA/AS." The 2009 OCALI Conference and Exposition about autism, assistive technology and low-incidence disabilities will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Dozens of presentations and speakers.
Brenda Smith Myles, Ph.D., author of Asperger Syndrome And Difficult Moments, will discuss "Strategies for Working with Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders."
