a friend of mine did all of the genetic testing through a hospital (paid out of pocket for all of this) and now needs nelp with the reading. anyone have a good genetics counselor that they can recommend that can do a phone consult with her?

Why won't the hospital genetics counselor or the doctor that ordered the test help her out by explaining everything to her? That should be part of the fee she already paid. Usually the doctor ordered a test because he suspected something from his initial consultation, so he/she or his counselor really should be the one to explain how the test fits into his observations, you know?

Are these tests for genetics or metabolics? Of the two, genetic problems are easier to diagnose. I asked someone who knows about things like this. She knows someone who does out of state consults if it's for mito issues.

i know that she went to cleveland clinic for the testing and she is looking for help testing and reading the rest of the family to see if the siblings are carriers for their future family planning. it was chromosome 2, duplication of 2p16.3. i am not sure why she doesn't want to go back to cleveland clinic for the rest of it.

That's supposed to be one of the best clinics for metabolic stuff. That and Houston..
She should try the Parent2Parent forum. I visited it once. I'll see if I can find a link.
