We are considering sending our 7.5 year old autistic son to sleepaway camp next summer. His older sisters have gone for years and loved their summer experiences. We have found one sleepaways camp for special needs kids that seems great -- they have speech and academics and focus on socialization in all of their activities -- but are looking for others to consider and compare. Please let me know if you are aware of any such camps.

There are several sleep-away camps for kids with special needs in my state. I got a list of them from the developmental disabilities agency web site. Is there a special needs email group in your state? I know some of the major disability groups such as The Arc and the Epilepsy Foundation know about camps for kids with developmental disabilities. Some even allow siblings to go, too!
