They make no sense and the few things I have figured out have different values then anywhere I have ever seen. I am about ready to pull my hair out I dont go back till Dec. I can't wait that long to understand them.

What type of labs were done?

Ok first part of the story is my sister went with me to get them done. I handed her my copies and said hold on to these. She handed them back after I had been waiting an hour and I did not realize I handed them over to the dumb nurse who already had copies. Though that probably would not help me. It appears they have a code system and they have hidden even the CBC I can't break down with another one in my hand. Here is an one that makes no sense.

Regular CBC Platelet count 602 Range 130-400k/mm3

in this one Plat2 420 X10E+09/L 156-369,h,f

Now I had to search to find it and yes it does show he is high but it appears they have some hidden system so that no one can read their CBC

He had Genetic Testing, Cromozone Testing, Encephalitis, IGM IGG IGA, I can't break the code. Not even on the CBC. I have looked on the hospitals web site and I have punched the codes into my computer and it keeps telling me nothing matches. I am beside myself. I have the dang test right in my hand. No one is at the hospital and I can't call the Dr. So I am just ready to cry.

I am so sorry. Don't hold me to it, but it sounds like the platelets level is 420, with the range being 156-369. I think that the range "130-400k/mm3" means 130,000-400,000/ml. I wish I had paid more attention to the metric system. That does sound like a freaky way to document it, and I would think you should be able to get clearer information. Is there any way you can call them tomorrow to get that clarified?

Yes the biggest problem right now is I am just freaking out. I am reading the T-Cell info and he is either High or Low on almost everyone. But the problem is they have 2 kinds of Bcell, 2 helpers, 3 nk, 2 super, and 2 Tcell. I can't make head or tails of it. From what I have read it can have something to do with his badly functioning liver. I just want answers that will have to wait till tomarrow. It is killing me. He had some genetic testing done and I can't even figure out what is what. It appear they either could not get a reading on his Kidneys or they are failing. I just want to know what is going on with my son.

I'm sorry.

I had turned off my computer to go to bed, but turned it back on. I bet you can ignore all the units of measurement (the 10E+0 etc) because, across the board at all labs, the reference range for platelets is about the same, 130-400. I know when the values are dictated, they are not typically dictated with the units of measure. So for example, if his WBC is 6 (insert whatever they use for unit measurement), then his WBC is 6. I know nothing about B cells, or anything else you mentioned, but wanted to throw that out there.

If he has not had a change in his urinary status that you can notice, his kidneys have probably not changed.

I would definitely call in the morning.

Peace to you

They don't classify results out of range as being high or low?

Yes they tell me what is high and what is low but if you could see the paper it is not like a regular CBC. Everything is coded differently. I can't even compair a CBC which I can most certainly read to it. The letters are all different. So I can't make heads or tails of what is actually being tested. I put the abbv in the search engine and nothing comes up. It is like they basically gave me the test in French. Which might have been easier to read as I could look for a translation. This is all over the place. I can see many things are high and low. I just can't make heads or tails of what I am reading. I will have to call the lab in the morning. Their is t-cell testing genetic testing and all sorts of things. Based on what I have been able to make out it actually does not appear that he has a specific disease but clearly inflamtion. Which the Dr thought but he did have a feeling their could be a reason if it is in the test I can't find it.

I have this linked bookmarked for when I need to decipher lab tests. I'll put it out there in case there's something useful to you.

That has got to be so frustrating. Let us know when you get some answers.

I will get my answers on the 18th. They moved my appointment up. No one will tell me what these stupid things say. It is really kinda silly. Oh well. I will just have to wait.
