DS has had a 104 fever with vomiting for a few hours now. His regular ped told me to give him acetaminaphin supp's but I refuse (hate tylenol) ..been giving him lukewarm baths/cool compresses which help a bit, and small sips of water..what else can I do to get his fever down? Of course he is speaking better than ever today, and just seems more with it..<sigh> I'm enjoying every seconds of it, but hate the fact that it will all go away in a few days..

bella donna child's dose is supposed to be good for fever. Don't know about vomiting.

I am sorry there is a fever, but happy you get to enjoy him.

Take a wash cloth or small towel and wet it with ice cold water and ring it out. Wipe down his neck and abdomen. Repeat frequently. The cold cloth on the neck will help with nausea a little too. Ginger Ale can help with nausea too. I wish I knew of something better to do.
I'd put the preferences aside use the tylenol and alternate with ibubrofen to lick this fever.
I'd see if he couldn't sip a little bit of cold water with probioitics in them.

How about Advil (Ibuprofen) with food every 4 to 6 hours when needed.

For fevers, we give children's dye-free Motrin. It has worked well for us.

Took him to the ped today-turns out he has Coxsackie! Most likely got it at the town pool we went to a few days ago. UGH! Crossing that off the list of summer activities! I feel so badly for him, been giving him Motrin every 6 hrs but his fever jumps right back up to 104 when it wears off. He has some blisters in his mouth which are making him miserable..I just hope this passes quickly..

Thx for the advice..

My boy had this 2 years ago - its looks worse than it is - wish i could remember the homeopathic remedy for it - maybe someone else can come on and advise.

I got it as well, just in time for a long haul flight. Not pretty. but we all survived.

blisters on fingers? or just mouth.

plenty of fluids - we used yogurt for food, he couldnt / wouldnt eat.

it worked well.

some lysine might not go amiss - good for cold sores, lesions but i doubt he would take it, in condition he is in.
