Mainstream Fiction w Characters Living on the Spectrum

Postby mlivingston » Sat Feb 05, 2011 12:45 pm

I received a recommendation on my Kindle for a book, Forgetful of Strangers. I read it in two days after I downloaded it. Absolutely a great read!! Suspensful and elevating, it weaves in characters that are living on the spectrum...as if they were a part of the story (instead of a sideline).

It has an unbeleivable ending. It wiill really make you think!

If you have a Kindle, its in the bookstore...but I noticed it is also available as physical book on AMAZON.

One of my good friends wrote a children's book about a ant in kindergarten with Autism. It's a coloring book as well, as she did all the illustrations in black and white.

there is a link to order the book on her blog.

I recently read two books where the characters are pretty Aspergerish. The main character in the first book has the classic signs (incredibly intelligent, but extremely poor eye contact, all sorts of social difficulties, literal thinking, etc.) It's a Regency Romance set in 1800s England. The title of the book is The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley .

The second book is contemporary fiction set in a small town. The hero, a veterinarian, has mild Asperger characteristics. The book is All I Ever Wanted by Kristian Higgins.

I didn't know how strong I could be until I had to be.
