Dreaming in Autistic Colors

Postby TonyFM » Tue Dec 03, 2013 5:27 am

My autistic brother-in-law Mike wrote an autobiography that he has always wanted to turn into a movie. After reading his life story, his dream became my dream as well. I wrote a screenplay based on his life and now we’re getting ready to shoot it in January. It’s a drama, centered around Mike, an out of control autistic man who is wrongly committed to a mental hospital where he rallies fellow patients to produce a movie but is met with opposition by Nurse Mara, a tyrant control freak.

Mike’s first day at the mental hospital is very chaotic as he adapts to the strange new environment filled with unique wacky characters. He starts off feeling out of place but quickly becomes the center of attention as the other patients become mesmerized by the prospect of becoming movie stars.

I feel like this film will help people begin to relate to someone who is autistic by seeing that we're all pretty much just the same. We all have hopes and aspirations. We all want to make something of our lives. The great thing about Mike is that he never let his circumstances dictate his future. Despite his disability, his lack of social skills or even his lack of support, he was still able to pursue his dream of film making.
We have managed to put together an amazing cast of professional actors and industry professional crew members who have committed themselves to this project for absolutely no pay. That alone was so amazing. We still have a lot of other expenses such as set design, wardrobe, props, and post production costs just to name a few. At this point we need as much support as we can get, and not just money. Something as simple as a Like on our facebook page goes a very long way. I know that not everyone can give, but everyone can help by getting involved. I have listed links to our project below that you can check out and share to your friends and family.

If anyone would like to help support this film you can give through indiegogo. You can also Like our Facebook Page.
